Review: Studio Society
A new blog series, specifically for Fitness Class reviews, by Koreen Strauss. We thought it’d be a good idea for someone to visit the local classes in the area and share with you, so you can hear from the same voice. And plus, Diana isn’t going to all those fitness classes for you ;)
Just when you think you have experienced all there is to working out, Studio Society in West Hampstead goes and changes the game. With 3 studios providing 250 classes, some live, some simulated, with floor to ceiling visual screens all day every day. I had the fortunate opportunity to take a yoga class with the amazing Claire Pestaille.
Walking into the room at Studio Society is a completely immersive sensation. The screens cover three of the four walls and during this class I was whisked off to beach at night full of waves crashing and stars twinkling. The music is pulsating a current through the room and there is an energy of a community that knows how to party. Its intoxicating.
Claire led us through a beautiful vinyasa class with challenging postures and a woven story of spirituality and grace. I was captivated by the sequence and was able to escape the daily thoughts that chatter in my brain and just be present and filled for an hour of hard work and escape. It was fabulous. Her ability to push her students to the edge of capability is amazing. I was so pleased to be able to take part and feel myself changed physically and emotionally. And the shavasana, the resting pose at the end, was better than any nap I’ve ever taken.
I didn’t choose to take a shower, but I did check out the locker rooms. They were clean and kept up and had blow-dryers for primping before work or that late night meetup with the girls. Leaving Studio Society, I felt like my cup had been filled for the rest of my week ahead. I would definitely recommend giving them a try. Even better, they offer a 2-week trial period for FREE, yes free! After that it’s only £49 per month which I won’t lie, is way cheaper than my current gym membership
