Rainy days doesn't mean you have to stay at home all day - I try to brave the weather and go to soft plays (now moving on to museums and other child friendly places).

Soft plays are lovely spots for children to run wild in a nice cushioned environment. Please remember to bring socks (for adults and children).

Sheriff Centre (West Hampstead). Soft play set up in a church. Suitable for babies to age 10. Shares the space with a chic cafe, post office, and church. Opened in July 2014. 1 minute walk from West Hampstead tube and overground.

Rascals (Swiss Cottage). Soft play in Swiss Cottage Leisure centre, suitable for children from 2 to 11 years of age. Sturdy 1 year olds can go (at their discretion), but the play area suitable for this age range is really small. Mon-Fri: 10-6pm / Sat-Sun: 10-1pm.

Toddler World (Swiss Cottage). Soft play in Swiss Cottage Leisure centre, but it's held in their gym hall. Normally there is a bouncy castle and other soft play things for toddlers to crawl/climb on. Suitable for crawlers to age 5. Open on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday mornings only. See website for accurate times.

Abbey Community Centre (South Hampstead). FREE drop in, with a small selection of soft play, and fairly large selection of toys. Normally there is an arts & crafts corner, as well as story/singing time at the end. Tuesday-Friday 10-12pm.

Talacre Treetops (Kentish Town). Big soft play centre in Kentish Town. Suitable from six months to age 11. 9-10.30am on weekdays is for under 5s only.
