Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Laura Della Guardia

Tell us about your business, what services do you offer?

I am an Antenatal Yoga Instructor and am passionate about helping women throughout pregnancy and beyond. Whether a seasoned yoga practitioner or total novice, I help Mamas put their much needed ‘me time’ to good use by helping you safely keep fit all while navigating the aches and pains brought on by pregnancy and childbirth. I offer private one to one or small group classes in NW3 and neighboring areas.

What is your greatest business achievement so far?

Because my business is so intertwined with my Motherhood, my answer is blurred between professional and personal. In 2020, my husband and I (+ bump!) moved to London from San Francisco where I had run a very successful business teaching yoga and leading retreats. After a difficult birth and postpartum, jumping back on the teaching bandwagon in a new country has most definitely been my greatest achievement so far.

What do you want to achieve next?

I can only hope for strong, stable baby steps with the growth trajectory I’m already on. In yoga, there is no end goal. There’s just the work you put in with your best efforts and no attachment to the end result.

What one piece of advice would you like to offer someone thinking of entering into your field?

Don’t quit your day job too quickly! I’m joking, but also very serious. In any wellness profession, your energy and how you make people feel is the number one reason clients keep coming back. My advice is to have another source of income so as not to put too much pressure on your teaching revenues. Why? Because no one wants a pushy or stressed out yoga teacher. The day you can confidently make the switch from your day job knowing you have a solid foundation on the other side will be a very, very happy one!

What is your favourite aspect about working in the local area?

I live between Hampstead and Belsize Villages and absolutely love it.  I’m a city gal with a love for local businesses and green spaces.  I walk everywhere and am constantly running into clients and friends which makes this neighborhood feel like a community. What more could I ask for?

What encouraged you to join Hampstead Hive and what has your experience been like so far within the Hive?

I was poking around the local directory on the Hampstead Mums website and stumbled across the Hive page. I’ve very much enjoyed meeting other local women in business and am even working on partnerships with a few of them
