Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Anna Glowacka

Tell us about your business, what services do you offer?

I make people feel better; whether that’s physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually or a combination of all of the above. In my 13 years as a massage therapist, I have gained diplomas in Holistic Massage, Sports Massage and Pregnancy/Postnatal Massage as well as gathering other complementing modalities along the way. As a massage therapist I’ve worked in environments as diverse as the physio room of Barnet Football Club, to offices in the City, to festival fields, however, my heart has always led me back to supporting women, as they navigate their maternity journey. It’s a special and sacred feeling to be allowed to join them on the path from pregnancy to motherhood. To be able to alleviate pelvic girdle pain or to help a mother gain an hour, to replenish her sense of self, is immensely rewarding.

What is your greatest business achievement so far?

I’ve recently opened my own premises in Dartmouth Park, which offers physical, emotional and mental support to women at every point of their lives, whether that’s puberty, periods, pregnancy, breastfeeding, perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

What do you want to achieve next?

To become a community hub where all women can come together and feel comfortable, safe and supported.

What one piece of advice would you like to offer someone thinking of entering into your field?

To be prepared for it to take up to five years to establish a client base that can underpin a viable career.

Massage is such a personal offering that it’s essential you have enough clients to spread the word to their friends and family about how you can support them.

What is your favourite aspect about working in the local area?

Without a doubt, the sense of community. I live about two minutes from my place of work; my mother was born on the road that my premises sit on and my daughter was born on the road that runs parallel to it. I feel entwined into the community - to be able to live and work here is incredibly special.

What encouraged you to join Hampstead Hive and what has your experience been like so far within the Hive?

It’s all about the community, Hampstead Hive facilitates a space in which you can unashamedly connect to and support other local women in business. In the short time I’ve been a member I’ve been able to reach out to a couple of other members, in similar fields, to see how we can directly help each other. I’m very much looking forward to my first face-to-face gathering to meet more of the Hive members.
