Hampstead Hive Member Spotlight - Rimmy Bedi-Whaley

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS..

Hi Hampstead, I’m Rimmy and my immigration practice is Bedi Law based in Perrin’s Court. Bedi Law is a boutique immigration practice providing clear, client focussed immigration advice and guidance to families, individuals, and businesses across the UK and overseas.

Prior to Bedi Law I worked in large legal and professional services firms providing immigration advice and decided to establish my own business around ten years ago. I have been advising on immigration law for 25 years now.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST BUSINESS ACHIEVMENT SO FAR?

Having clients who have had cases refused prior to speaking with me and being able to turn these into positive decisions is immensely satisfying especially when other lawyers have advised the case has no merit.

I believe that taking time at the outset to assess merits and the most suitable options to meet my client’s needs, understanding objectives, and really getting under the skin on client’s concerns has aided my successes.

I train lawyers on immigration law and how to ensure success on cases. This keeps me on top of my game. Immigration law is ever changing as such being able to advise clients on updated rules and being aware of changes upcoming allows us to ensure success.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE NEXT?

I am committed to continuing to build my reputation and practice locally along with expanding my team of lawyers. Much of my business has developed through my existing client base referring friends and family, so continuing to involve myself with the local business community, and providing service excellence on immigration matters is essential.

WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU LIKE TO OFFER SOMEONE THINKING OF ENTERING INTO YOUR FIELD?

Manage your client’s expectations and maintain a personable, sensitive approach to dealing with clients. It is important to listen. You must be clear about your client’s concerns and goals to ensure all are addressed realistically and honestly at the outset.

Being successful in obtaining the right visa can really change someone’s life, so supporting clients through their immigration journey is key. It is important the client is advised of all the options and merits at the outset, to ensure successful outcomes. Always keep up to date with changes as immigration is constantly evolving.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT ABOUT WORKING IN THE LOCAL AREA?

Living and working in Hampstead has enabled me to assist many in the local neighbourhood on their immigration needs, including members of Hampstead Hive and Hampstead Mums. Having an office in Perrin’s Court ensures I am well connected to the local community and able to meet clients face to face.

WHAT ENCOURAGED YOU TO JOIN HAMPSTEAD HIVE AND WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE HIVEBEEN LIKE SO FAR?

Hive helps local women in business and invests time and energy to support and encourage business growth. Being part of Hive also connects me to a range of other colleagues I can refer to my clients and family.

Much of my business comes through referral from existing clients, so being active in the local community and achieving successful outcomes is important to help grow my business. As they say –

satisfied, happy customers are the best form of marketing!
