Halloween in Hampstead

Many parents are asking about Halloween already, so thought I would whip up a top list of what to do in the area.

Trick or Treating in general is great, and only on 31st October regardless of what day it falls in the calendar. Only knock on doors with a lit pumpkin outside - a pumpkin with no lit candle probably means they have run out of sweets/aren’t open yet. Many Hampstead streets are up for trick or treating, especially Downshire, Gayton Road etc. Jonathan Ross’ house is meant to be fab, further North, you will have to ask around for the address ;) Normally for the younger kids we begin at 5pm, it becomes a lot more lively at 6.30pm or so.

The Hampstead loop is excellent: Flask Walk, Gardnor Road, Gayton Road, Well Road (including Gainsborough Gardens), Willow Road, Downshire Hill - they’re guaranteed but yes, lots of other pockets near the centre (a few of us do it in Frognal Gardens and there’s often something in Church Row). Further out I believe the Redington & Crofts streets are also excellent.

St Johns Wood (Hamilton Terrace) is also meant to have amaaaazing trick or treating - we haven’t headed there with young kids yet though. Try all the streets off Loudon Rd (Carlton hill, Blenheim rd, Marlborough place and hill, etc)

I often bring multipacks of sweets to give to the people handing out sweets as they have made the effort to hand out sweets.

There is also the Teal Pumpkin Project - if you see that, that means they are handing out things that are non-food related, so children with food allergies can take part too.
